Spring Equinox
I love this time of year, here in the UK Spring has sprung! The weather has taken a turn for the better and we are all enjoying the warm sunshine which hopefully will last until at least Mother's Day. It is so wonderful to be able to leave the back door to the garden open and get some fresh air into the house, and the cats really enjoy being able to come and go as they please and roll about on the warm paving slabs soaking up the vitamin D from the sunshine.
Driving to the coast at the weekend we noticed so many flowers in the hedgerows, it was really colourful. There are abundant displays of daffodils (which are my favourite flowers) and gorse which really warm up the landscape. The lambs were bouncing around the fields under the watchful eyes of their mothers, and everywhere you looked you could see new life emerging.
I was born in the Spring which is why it is my favourite season, it holds the promise of new beginnings, of ideas being created and new energies entering our lives. Talking of new energies and new beginnings, I have recently found out that I am expecting a baby - due mid November which is another reason to celebrate at this time of year :) so although the tiredness is trying to hit me, I still feel invigorated with the joys of Spring and the opportunities it brings into my life.
This week we have the Spring Equinox(21st March) and Mother's Day (Mothering Sunday). The Spring Equinox celebrates the official first day of Spring - a time for fertility and sowing seeds, but that doesn't mean you have to literally grow plants, it relates to starting new projects in your life or new relationships. Celebrate the equinox by 'Sowing the seeds' for a new business idea, or even to declutter your environment by 'Spring cleaning' your life, and the energies will flow more easily and abundantly therefore by removing the stagnant energy in your life you will open the doors to prosperity. This is also a great time of year to have fresh flowers in your house, the fragrance will uplift your spirits and keep you motivated to get started on your projects. My personal project this year (apart from keeping healthy for my baby) is to create a sensory garden, with fragrant and medicinal herbs and flowers and wind chimes hanging from my willow tree, a place of beauty and relaxation that changes with the seasons, somewhere to sit and reflect on life and to manifest my dreams.
Mothering Sunday here in the UK is always on the middle Sunday between Lent and Easter, hence why the date changes each year. This year in the UK it is on 22nd March, the day after the Spring Equinox and it is a time to celebrate all mothers wherever they are in the world. The day originated from the sixteenth century when people would return home to honour and celebrate all that their mothers did for them throughout their lives, children as young as ten years old would travel to the next town or village to work, and Mothering Sunday was the only day apart from Christmas Day when they would be allowed a day off to visit their families. This time was known as 'gone-a-mothering' which became known as 'Mothering Sunday'. The children would often bake a cake known as a simnel cake which was a fruit cake with a layer of marzipan on the top and decorated with eleven marzipan balls to represent the 12 apostles minus Judas, who betrayed Christ, and on their way home would pick bunches of flowers from the meadows they walked through as a gift for their mothers. Over time Christianity took over the day as a time to bring people back to their 'Mother Church' or cathedral, as usually they would visit their local or 'daughter's church' on Sundays. This was to bring people together to pray and give thanks for the seasons ahead.
Nowadays, Mothering Sunday is still celebrated by giving flowers and gifts to mothers everywhere to show how appreciated we are of the work our mothers do each day for us and to let them know how much they are loved. Mother's Day is also celebrated in the USA but is always on a set day in May - and we will talk more about that nearer the time.
The special offer I mentioned in my newsletter last week is still valid until the 22nd March for a special Mothering Sunday gift for only £14.50 including postage and packing. It consists of a decorated box containing pampering treats from bath salts and perfume to moisturising cream and a beautiful card that matches the box, unfortunately my camera decided to give up this week, hence why I have been unable to post a picture here, but if you are interested in buying a box for your mother then please email me and I will let you know more about the options available. Once the camera is working again the pictures will be up on my website and they make wonderful presents all year around and not just for Mother's Day.
Here is your angel reading for the week and your crystal of the week:
The angels want to help you with a situation in your life, but cannot until you ask them for help. They would like your permission first in order to intervene in your choices of free will, and once they have that permission they will make sure that everything works out for the best and for your highest good. Archangel Michael is here helping you to clear any old attachments to fear that stem from past relationships, that will free you from destructive patterns in your life right now, he asks that you let go of anything that is not for your highest purpose and to hand over any doubts or fears you have about this releasement. He is also letting you know that using the energy of crystals will also help you with your present situation. You are being guided to eat more healthily and to eat more organic fruit and vegetables, this will help give you a boost of high life-force energy which elevates your frequency and also helps you to open your third eye chakra, so that you feel safe seeing the energy of love as angels, auras and visions. You may be feeling very emotionally sensitive right now, but the angels are letting you know that this is a great gift so honour and respect it and everything will work out as it is meant to.
Your crystal of the week is Pyrite - also known as 'Fool's Gold', the following extract is from the
'Crystal Oracle deck' by Toni Carmine Salerno:
'Keywords: emotional balance, psychological strength, relationships and protection.
You may be feeling emotionally unbalanced at present because you have allowed yourself to, at least partially, believe another's critical judgements of you. This malicious criticism was directed at you by someone who falsely believes that they will gain something by belittling you. To regain your mental strength and emotional balance you must realise that this whole episode is simply emotional blackmail. You are dearly loved and held in high esteem by many, so see this episode for what it really is and do not allow yourself to be so affected by what one person says - others know the truth. Pyrite can help strengthen you both psychologically and emotionally.
As an extra special offer for the Spring Equinox and Mothering Sunday, I am offering every subscriber of the newsletter a £5 discount against any therapy from the website. Please quote
'Spring is in the air - offer' and email me first to benefit from the offer as it is not available direct from the website. Offer is valid until 31st March. When I receive your email, I will send you a PayPal invoice prior to booking the time slot for your chosen therapy. Theta Healing can be done over the phone, as can angel readings - however I am unable to record the readings at present, so if you would prefer the details to be recorded it is recommended you book an email angel reading instead. You are of course welcome to record the conversation on your end of the line instead if you prefer.
With that I wish you a very happy Mothering Sunday and Spring Equinox and I hope the sun shines for you wherever you are in the world!
Angel Blessings,
Kate xxx
